Smart Rat ...?

Jas saw this rat one night and it was jumping onto our ladder, leaning against the wall, and then to the metallic railing supporting the awning.

Apparently, it finally jump up into a gap on the ceiling.

I checked the following day and saw the gap.

 Guess who was peeping at me when I was hanging my laundry later that day...?

 

I removed the ladder and I think it has problem jumping up and down the gap now....??? I saw it crawling along the railing and dare not jump down and went back into the gap.

 

Pest control staff advise us to close the gap and was not keen to throw poison into it as it maybe very smelly when it dies.
